Name: "Leah—but I perform under the name King Leah."

Age: 27

Where do you live? "Pioneer Square."

What do you do? "I do the door at I-Spy and I work at the magazine stand at Pike Place Market."

Whadchagit? "John Zorn, Spillane; The Sugarcubes, Life's Too Good; Sinead O'Connor, I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got; Paper Bag, I have no idea what this is but I like it because it's got improv in the title; and Pere Ubu, Worlds in Collision—all used cassette tapes. And this Mary Lou Lord disc from the free bin."

So what's with this King Leah business? "I play sax, organ, and bass; experimental pop."

What are some of your favorite bands? "Tripod. They're improv and they're very challenging. It's not all about sound, but they're very good musicians. There's always an element of surprise, which I really like. They're local. And Rollerball, they're from Portland."
