Carmona Flamenco

Dance and music usually have a close relationship, but in flamenco that partnership is especially tight, as the two halves of the art form have developed together for close to 100 years. Rubina and Marcos Carmona have an enviable musicality that they've nurtured during their joint careers; guests Ana Montes (pictured) and Oscar Nieto are old friends and collaborators who should make this an exceptionally rich evening of entertainment. Ethnic Cultural Theater, 3940 Brooklyn Ave. N.E., 206-932-4067. $15-$20. 8 p.m. Fri. June 5; 7 p.m. Sat. June 6. SANDRA KURTZ

Matthew Sperry

Sperry's frequent collaborator Stuart Dempster has gathered an all-star cast for a memorial concert on the first anniversary of the death of this bassist/composer, one of the most energetic and ebullient members of Seattle's new-music community. The four-hour-plus event, with composed and improvised contributions by Christian Asplund, Tom Baker, Greg Campbell, Sheri Cohen, Lori Goldston, Susie Kozawa, Ian Rashkin, and Wally Shoup, will culminate in a live broadcast, midnight-1 a.m., hosted by David Knott on KEXP 90.3. Polestar Music Gallery, 1412 18th Ave., 206-329-4224. $5. 8 p.m. Sat. June 5. GAVIN BORCHERT
