Corn, Peaches, Apricots, Nectarines

Summer is drawing to a close, which means colorful trees and crisp afternoons, but also the end of that delicious warm-weather produce. Cherries have made their final appearance at the markets, but corn is still prevalent and fresh for the picking. It's not too late to enjoy ripe peaches, apricots, and nectarines. Melons are a hot commodity right now, as are wild mushrooms and endless varieties of potatoes and eggplant. The Columbia City market hosts chef John Neumark of Serafina from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25; he will prepare an original recipe, using only farmers market ingredients, for a family of four—at a cost of less than $10!
