Who says happy-hour food has to be greasy and salty? Rain's twin happy hours, which run daily from 3 to 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. to close (usually 2 a.m.), reflect the increasing Belltown-ification of 45th Street. Like fellow newcomers May and the Sea Monster Lounge, Rain offers heaping helpings of style—though, fortunately, with substance beneath. Sesame-crusted oysters ($5) and fried calamari ($5) are fine munchies for a small group, but if you're alone of a rainy January evening, go with the delectable "sashimi set" ($8), a generous helping of salmon, albacore, yellowtail, and deep pink tuna. Served simply, alongside a few slices of raw onion, the fish is meltingly tender and tastes clean—you'll barely need the soy sauce and wasabi. Pair it with a shot glass of pear sake ($4, like all house sakes during happy hour), tap your toe to the reggae music filling the bar's snug, brightly colored space, and stay out of the rain a little longer. 2208 N. 45th St., 206-545-7848.
