Tsunami Relief in Restaurants and Clubs

Next time you drop into your favorite Thai restaurant, keep an eye out for the red-white-and-blue collection box for contributions to the Washington state Thai restaurant association Tsunami Relief Fund. More than 55 establishments in Seattle and on the Eastside will be sporting them. And you can be sure your gift will go where it will do the most good: All contributions will be sent to the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles for immediate transfer to the Thai Red Cross.

Thursday, Jan. 6

Racha Noodles & Thai Cuisine is going all out for the relief effort: The restaurant is donating all of the day's proceeds to the fund. No reservations will be taken, so drop in and show your support by eating a delicious meal.

Saturday, Jan. 8

Beginning at 9:30 p.m., the Mirabeau Room is throwing a Bollywood Benefit for South Asian flood relief in collaboration with Through Our Music, Sounds of the East, and Planet Beat. DJs Anshul, Advent, and Darek Mazzone will be spinning. There is a $10 cover, and additional donations will be accepted.

Tuesday, Jan. 11

The management and staff of all Chow Foods restaurants (Atlas, Coastal Kitchen, Endolyne Joe's, 5-Spot, Hi-Life, and Jitterbug) will donate 25 percent of their day's gross to tsunami relief via Northwest disaster-relief specialists Mercy Corps (www.mercycorps.org/splash).
