While away the last days of summer on the War Room's rooftop deck, arguably the best on Capitol Hill. Since opening in spring 2005, this handsome spot (masterminded by Stuck Under the Needle's Marcus Lalario and Graylife's Brian Rauschenbach) has maintained some of the best weekly and monthly parties in town. Breakdance crew Circle of Fire's Soul City Monday night draws serious B-boys and the occasional live percussion ensemble, while Yo! Son on Saturdays caters to the bling-and-heels set. Be prepared to wait in line on Fridays, too, as the dance party is packed, whether it's the alternating Cherry ("For lesbians and their friends"), Rags to Riche$ (DJ FourColorZack), Hot Mess! ("For fags and their friends"), or Gettin' (divine, deep, and funky house). Promoters Kaos Theory host Tuesday night drum and bass for the sixth year running, matching headliners from across the U.S. and U.K. with wicked local talent. With a central spot, urban-classy decor, and inspired bookings, the War Room stays fresher than fresh. RACHEL SHIMP
