Fishbowl-sized pomegranate margaritas and an all-you-can-eat hard taco bar in West Seattle.

Three-dimensional stone faces and murals depicting Mayan temples adorn the walls while samba music completes the curious Latin American vibe inside Coyotes. Outside, at the 10 or so tables along the main Alki drag, couples soak in late-afternoon rays while sipping copious drinks. I spent a recent Sunday checking out their happy hour (3–6 p.m. daily), relaxing over a bright pink Pomerita (pomegranate margarita, $8), which came in a fishbowl of a glass, and a generous pile of calamari ($4). The squid wasn't so spiced as to be overwhelming, and the drink was tasty, although weak for its size. The soft tacos (I had the shrimp, $4) were simple and hit the spot. The all-you-can-eat hard taco bar ($5), while lacking in variety (two meats, a few standard toppings), was an undeniable deal. After the food, the house mojito ($6), which arrived in a pint glass, quenched my thirst with minty refreshment but lacked the octane that the size implied. Besides the attractive black-clad wait staff, the highlight of the place seemed to be Coyotes' tequila menu, with 41 varieties of the agave liquor ranging from $6 to $125 a glass.
