Smarty Pants

The happy hour menu at Smarty Pants is about as uncreative as a happy hour menu can get: $3 wells, $1.50 domestics—with Pabst being the only domestic. And that's it. At first glance, this sort of simplicity is fitting. Situated at the end of blue-collar Airport Way's slow-cooked hip strip, the eatery has made a name for itself by virtue of its large, tasty sandwiches, sunny patio (a rarity in Georgetown), and motorcycle-centric decor. But then, what kind of place projects motocross, and motocross only, on a large white screen during suppertime, eschewing popular sports like, oh, baseball or basketball? And what kind of place pollutes its delicious chili with Fritos, thus resulting in the aptly named Frito Pie? So the place has its quirks. So does every place. Well, not every place has a meat-based martini. You read that right: Smarty Pants' expert team of mixologists recently developed a drink called the Bacon-Tini ($7) that's composed of Absolut Peppar, liquid smoke, Worcestershire, celery salt, and—yes—a strip of bacon. It! But you can't help but be impressed by the fact that the Bacon-Tini is something more than urban legend, love it or hate it. MIKE SEELY. Happy hour: 4–7 p.m. Mon.–Fri. 6017 Airport Way S., 762-4777, GEORGETOWN
