Draw Your Own Comic Book

It’s July and the kiddies have been out of school for a month and a half, just enough time for the novelty of lazy days to wear off and the muggy weather to set in. Sure, you can drop ‘em at the pool, or at one of summer’s many pow-blam-boom action movies. Or, give them something that’ll last through summer and into seasons beyond. “Draw Your Own Comic Book,” a program offered by the Tacoma Community College Summer Youth Programs, gives your lively youngster a chance to put their outlandish ideas down on paper, instead of putting the neighbor’s cat on a skateboard at the top of a hill. Think of it as a creative writing class for the action movie season—let their minds be the big screen as they create their own characters and stories to delight and entertain. Who needs Transformers?
