Imagine that youre listening to your iPods Interpol playlist on random and standing in front of a window display of handsome, expressionless mannequins dressed in tight-fitted designer suits for well over an hour. In concert, thats pretty much what you get from the NYC-based bandfive dapper dudes posing with instruments and playing music that never breaks away from its preconceived formatwho have been putting on the same grandiosely gloomy, glossed-over post-punk charade since the release of their fabulous 2002 debut LP, Turn On The Bright Lights. But Liars, Interpols current supporting act, have been anything but predictable. Relocating to various points around the globe numerous times over the last few years has helped the trio shape their constantly evolving sound: rabid post-punk that slices through the sonic barriers with hypnotic tribal rhythms, menacing cult-like chants, fuse-blowing electronic discourse and experimentation. And it makes their live performance all the more riveting. Arrive early, since Liars is the one thing you really dont want to miss.
