Julia Child’s memoir is now out in paperback

Chortling away as she doused a roasting bird with wine (sipping some herself, in the PBS kitchen), food-phenom Julia Child’s apparent glee in concocting fearsomely complex French dishes made the prospect of cooking such ambitious meals oneself just a little less intimidating, a little more possible. Her grandnephew, Alex Prud’homme, visits Elliot Bay Book Co. to read from My Life in France, a memoir Child wrote in collaboration with Prud’homme during the last year of her life (2004). Now out in paperback, the bestselling, critically acclaimed book explores Julia’s transformative trip to France early in her marriage to her husband Paul Child, offering insight into how the woman many of us we feel we know came to be. The intimate stories are told in a brash, warm voice that many will recognize from that 60’s TV kitchen.
