Just try get past the initial disconnect (folkdancing in a shopping mall?) and see the larger picturethe mall is the 21st-century equivalent of the community marketplace, the perfect place to see a program of folk arts from local ethnic heritage groups. Cultural Crossroads is one-stop shopping if youre looking for a sampler of world dance and music. This years edition features performances by regional favorites Bokreta Hungarian Dance Ensemble, Enzian Schuhplattler, Filipiniana, Joyas Mestizas, Ocheami, and Urvasi Dance, along with a Balkan Cabaret Saturday night and an open tango session with Rouge & Noir Tango Orchestra Sunday afternoon. The Eastside has evolved from the lily-white enclave of the past to a multicultural community, and this annual showcase just underlines that change.
