On the first Friday of each month, local experimental/avant-garde label Aphonia Recordings hosts a showcase at (surprise!) Gallery 1412. Theres no better home for the kind of music Aphonia puts forthand this time around it includes the Olympia-based (surprise again!) Problems, whose music is described on the labels Web site using words like microstructures and polyforms. Joined by the one-man electronic and vocal endeavor Paintings for Animals and the Precambrian, the project of the labels founderswho utilize homemade piezoelectric transducers, microphones, and algorithms in their one-act narratives (songs?)this is sure to be one freaky Friday. Get ready to weird out. AJA PECKNOLD
