Kenny Rogers

If the preponderance of casino showrooms has been responsible for anything, it’s prolonging the careers of past-their-prime showmen like Eddie Money and Gallagher. But don’t let the fact that Kenny Rogers is playing the Emerald Queen fool you: He doesn’t have to play casinos, he deigns to play casinos. This is because Kenny Rogers is a national treasure who attracts throngs of fans to the stage during his every performance. They love him, and they love to take his photo—even his face has been given such a working over by various plastic surgeons that he looks like he belongs in a wax museum. On his last swing through the Northwest (at the Puyallup Fair), Kenny spent more time cracking B-grade Blue Collar Comedy Tour jokes than actually playing music. Let’s hope he recognizes the ill of his ways this time ’round. Emerald Queen Casino, 2024 E. 29th St. (Tacoma), 628-0088, $40-85. 7 p.m. MIKE SEELY
