Cougar Gridiron Classic

You’d think I’d be better versed in college football, given that I spent four years at a Pac-10 school. But truth be told, I’ve never really shown support for the Washington State Cougars, not even when I lived in Pullman, not since I moved to Seattle. At least not in the stadium. I do it by getting really, really drunk in bars where the game’s on TV. In this year’s Cougar Gridiron Classic, Wazzu takes on Oklahoma State—a far tougher opponent than last year’s San Diego State (or so I’m told). My friends and I plan on spending our morning (yes, morning) at Redline Music and Sports, West Seattle’s premier Coug bar, getting blitzed and rocking out on the free party bus that will transport us to Qwest Field. Once at the stadium, we will cheer the Cougs on to victory—and then drink some more to celebrate. Here’s hoping my bar tab doesn’t prevent me from paying next month’s rent. Qwest Field, 800 Occidental Ave. S., 381-7940, $7–$55. 12:30 p.m. ERIKA HOBART
