Bumbershoot 2009

Now in its 39th year, the annual Bumbershoot festival is operating on a tidy three-day schedule with a plethora of acts scattered across 20 venues on the Seattle Center campus. Among the music headliners are Modest Mouse, Sheryl Crow, and De La Soul. On the literary arts stage, writers from the TV show Lost will answer your questions, while author Christian Lander explains all about Stuff White People Like. The comedy stage roster is packed with names like David Cross, Eugene Mirman, Patton Oswalt, and Charlene Yi. And over at SIFF Cinema (beneath McCaw Hall), the 1 Reel Film festival offers 22 programs of over 100 short films. A program of environmental art at the Northwest Rooms features talented locals Chris Jordan and Allison Kudla. See the Bumbershoot Web site for full schedule and details. BRIAN MILLER
