Temple Grandin

Made famous by Oliver Sacks in The New Yorker, autistic scientist Temple Grandin has achieved renown in her own right as an author and expert on animal behavior. Her Animals Make Us Human: Creating the Best Life for Animals considers the latter both as companions and food, setting out humane guidelines for both categories. Tonight she's the guest of Portland's Food Alliance in an event that includes a presentation from the author, wine, ethically harvested food, and screening of the acclaimed recent HBO biopic Temple Grandin (with a much-praised Claire Danes portraying its heroine). Register at 503-493-1066 or foodalliance.org. BRIAN MILLER
