Bumbershoot 2010

Courtney, Bob, and… Anvil? There’s something for everyone at the 40th edition of Bumbershoot, which spans the Labor Day weekend. Though our cover girl Courtney Love, making a return to her old home, promises to be the most unpredictable act of the festival, Dylan and others will offer proven excellence. But Bumbershoot isn’t just a music festival, and you don’t have to buy a premium pass to have a great time. There’s a recession going on, which Bumbershoot certainly recognizes. For your bare-bones $22 economy ticket, there are dozens upon dozens of quality bands on stages scattered throughout Seattle Center. Food and drink of every description will be sold (or bring your own). There’s comedy indoors at Intiman, short movies at McCaw Hall, and several galleries worth of visual art in the Northwest Rooms. In addition to this week’s comprehensive Bumbershoot guide, check our Reverb blog for field reports all weekend long. Now let’s hope the weather cooperates. BRIAN MILLER
