Man Shot and Killed on Capitol Hill After Standoff

According to Seattle police, a man was shot and killed this morning by officers after he barricading himself inside a Capitol Hill apartment. The Seattle PI reports that police responded to the scene - in the 100 block of Bellevue Avenue East - after receiving reports of a man firing a gun inside the residence. The SPD Twitter feed indicates a police negotiator attempted to subdue the man, but those efforts ultimately failed.

Police have briefed the media at the scene, and according to a press release from the Mayor’s office rescheduling a previously planned tour of the Southwest Precinct, a second media briefing is in the works for later today.

Until then, you can see how things played out via the SPD Twitter feed.
