1. Forrest Brunton cut his teeth working in kitchens including Oddfellows and Golden Beetle. Now he’s putting his energy into Snack/Bar, a schmancy junk food concept that launches this Sunday via pop-up at Miyabi 45th. Featuring Duck McNuggets and pudding pops (yes!) the first Snack/Bar dinner lasts from 5:00 to 10:00 pm. More info is on Facebook.
2. Have you lived here long enough to remember the Painted Table before it became Library Bistro? Here’s your chance to revisit favorite Painted Table menu items like mushroom risotto and roasted duck with corn pudding. Library Bistro chef Chris Lobkovich and original Painted Table chef Emily Moore are teaming up to prepare a one-night only Painted Table Dinner on November 7 at 6:00 pm. 3. Whoa Nelly. CHS reports on the space formerly occupied by The Grille on Broadway: It’s ripe for the picking for almost $16K. A month.
4. Thanks to Darigold, we will soon be able to view life-size busts of mayoral candidates Mike McGinn and Ed Murray carved out of 100-pound blocks of butter. Nationally recognized butter artist Linda Christensen is spending six days this week carving each candidate’s butter bust behind a podium. Once completed, you’ll be able to vote for the better bust online till November 1. And if you want to see the things in person, the sculptures will be displayed at McGinn and Murray’s election night parties.
