Like every other food writer in town, I checked out the new Maximus Minimus truck today (I had to double-check all the photos that have been posted in the past hour to make sure I wasn't in any of them). As Rebekah Denn discovered a few weeks ago, it's the newest project from Kurt Dammeier of Beecher's and Pasta & Co. The truck is parked weekdays on the corner of 2nd and Pike from 11 until the food runs out. Since it's day 2, I'm not going to review the food, but I will show you what I tried:
Pulled-pork sandwich with maximus (spicy) sauce, $6.50. Cabbage slaw in spicy vinaigrette, $1.50. Mixed-vegetable chips, $3. Ginger lemonade and hibiscus punch are both $2. Wait time: 20 minutes total, with the line moving much faster than Skillet's.
Speaking of Skillet Street Food, rumors of Josh Henderson's recent shutdown appear to be somewhat blown out of proportion. Given the Airstream's rocky record with the Health Department, though, I want each and every one of you who looooooves Skillet to drive immediately to every taco truck you've called a "roach coach" and tell them this:
