Fight Outside Fire Station Results In Officer Getting Head-Butted

There’s no telling where people will get the urge to throw down. Sometimes it’s at a bar. Sometimes it’s at a sporting event. And sometimes, as was proven once again Sunday night, it’s outside a fire station on Rainier Avenue.

According to Seattle police, “at approximately 11:39 p.m. officers responded to reports of two people fighting outside Seattle Fire Department Station 28 in the 5900 block of Rainier Avenue South. Upon arrival officers contacted two adult males that had been fighting. While being interviewed one of the men took off running.”

Nothing out of the ordinary so far, right?

We’re just getting to the head-butting part ...

“Officers chased him and caught him a short distance later. While escorting the suspect back to the patrol car the suspect head-butted a female officer in the face, knocking her backward into some bushes. Other officers on scene quickly gained control of the suspect and placed him into handcuffs. The suspect was then transported to the South Precinct.”

According to police, the female officer on the wrong end of the head-butting sustained “non-life-threatening injuries to her face,” and was later transported to an area hospital for treatment. Police indicate the suspect will be booked into the King County Jail on charges of felony assault on a police officer.
