1. The ten-day long Washington Cider Week starts tomorrow, with more than 75 events scheduled through September 15. A slew of local restaurants and bars are taking part in the festivities: Brouwer’s in Fremont is featuring eight ciders and two cider cocktails, Serious Pie on Virginia is designing a pizza that pairs well with Finnriver Dry Hopped Cider, Elliott Bay Brewing in Lake City is serving special cider flights...and we’re just getting started. 2. Bavarian wunderland Von Trapp’s is setting up a covered outdoor biergarten from September 21 through October 6 during Oktoberfest. The al fresco picnic table seating will stay open till ten every night.

3. Apple Creek Orchard in Ferndale is planning to open its u-pick area on Saturday, with Jonagold, Mutsu and newer hybrid Snowsweet apples available for $15.00 a bushel. Call 360-384-0915 before you go since picking hours can vary depending on the day.

4. Crush chef Jason Wilson will be cooking on-site and serving samples from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm at this weekend’s Fremont Sunday Market. The event is part of Darigold’s Farmalicious “Fun Fridge” benefit for Northwest Harvest.
