Jack White has the allure of a rock star, but he's not one to limit himself to a genre, and last night at the Paramount he steadfastly stradled the line between garage and jam rock, twangy country, and bluegrass (at one point giving a tip of the hat to Loretta Lynn who once called northern Washington home). It felt mildly disorienting watching the performance as he hopped from one style to the next, but delightful at the same time, and it was well worth it if you like variety. Though he did perform some of his oldies for fans wanting a fix, if you were looking for a remix of White Stripes hits, you were in for a rude awakening.
Accompanied by a full backing band, it was a fantastic show nonetheless. Check out our blue-tinged slideshow from White's first (of two) Seattle performances.
